The tourism potential of the commune, although untapped to its through value, is very impressive. It possess remarkable mountain landscapes, nature reserves and protected areas of national and county interest (Turbaria de la Capatina - partly, Cold Somes gorge, Obirsia Somesulu Rece, Cheile Dumitresei, Gorge Racatau), traditional architectural monuments (wooden church "Resurrection" from Muntele Rece- dating from the eighteenth century), the accumulation lake on Cold Somes, Dumitreasa and Racatau, the tourist area of Blajoaia and last but not least, the well preserved ethno-folk potential; Thus, Maguri - Racatau commune heads, yet with timid steps towards a sustained economic and touristical development, taking full advantage of the area. In addition to our bed and breakfast, 2 other pesnions and vacation houses have occured.

Facts about Magura Racatau commune
It is the largest commune from Cluj County. In terms of territorial surface, it occupies an area of 286.95 square kilometers in the Gilău Mountains - Muntele Mare. In relation to the territory, the population is very small and it is continuously decreasing. Dispersed settlements with many individual households or grouped in hamlets were founded on the set interfluves of Cold Somes waters and its tributaries, at an altitude of 1100 - 1300 m. The commune is composed of three villages: Maguri - Racatau - commune residence, located at 45km from the city of Cluj - Napoca- Maguri and Muntele Rece.
According to the last census, the population of the commune consists of 2413 inhabitants of which 99.84% are Romanians, 0.08% Hungarians, 0.04% Germans and 0.04% other nationalities.
Due to harsh climatic conditions, agriculture is represented by potato crops and livestock. Wood exploitation and processing is the main economic activity, while the exploitation of feldspat from Muntele Rece is also worth mentioning.
